Bukit Tabur

Date: 9th May 2009
Venue: Bukit Tabur
Time: 8.15am - 12.45pm

Went hiking on Saturday with some friends and I was kinda freaked out at first coz apparently, a few people had died in the place recently
Being a clumsy person who can even fall when walking, I was really anxious!

Anyway, everything turned out great and it was one of the best hike that I've been so far!Actually, it kinda felt more like rock climbing/hiking coz for the first 3 hours up, it was just climbing rocks, rocks and more rocks! FUN!=))
And that was also why the experience was so cool coz it's so interesting that it didn't feel tiring
Plus, the view was simply breathtaking~

Yay! We've reached the peak!=D

Obedience, is doing something even when you don't feel like it
Obedience, is doing something you don't enjoy but know that it is for your own good
Obedience, is a struggle between standing by commitments and human desires
Obedience, is when there's respect and trust towards the one in authority
Obedience, is persevering through it all even when you can't see the end
Obedience, is being faithful and staying in line

Obedience, a constant challenge and definitely not an easy task to fulfill
But it is also the way to grow to greater heights with Him

Obedience, is an act of love

Been pretty stressed for the past few weeks, and frankly, I still am!
I know people always go like, "Huh, you're stressed? But you're only taking 2 subjects!"

I know it's ONLY 2 subjects, but two very important ones
One is my Independent A which is the first part of my final year thesis and another is Philosophy which is an extremely hard subject to grasp (my brains can blow out for this one I tell you and I'm not kidding!)

Then there's also the nagging thought behind my head that's telling me that this is the end of my 3 year degree and I'll either make it or not
Looking back at my past results, it's just average and because of how my uni system works, my aim for the 2nd upper class would largely depend on how well I do for this last two semesters
Yes, getting 1st class didn't even cross my mind cause I know it's impossible...I was never an over-achiever=)

Got this while reading Sophie's World:

"If the human brain was simple enough for us to understand, we would still be so stupid that we couldn't understand it"

Hm, why do we learn philosophy again?

Quote of the day

Friendship is like peeing on yourself

Everyone can see it
But only you get the warm feeling that it brings

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"
~Timo Cruz in Coach Carter~

Sometimes, we just got to believe in ourselves
Have a lil' confidence and BE the person that you are meant to be

Great Teachers

Have you ever thought about the people that have been in your life so far?
Some may still be around, while others have either moved on or just no longer in contact
But whatever it is, a part of who you are today is the result of those relationships

There is your family, your closest relation that have been there since the day you were born
Tirelessly and lovingly bringing you up, often wanting the best for you in all circumstances (well, probably more often than not=p)

There are your friends, those that celebrate your joys together and stand by you when all else seem to fail
The perfect companion to just chill out and talk about anything under the sun

And finally, there are also your teachers, mentors and whoever that you are not directly related to but are just willing to share their abundant knowledge and wisdom
Their purpose is to build you up and share their life experiences, the good and the bad, so that you can learn from them
Their hope is to see you grow as a person and they do not ask for anything in return

When I was at a Facilitation forum yesterday, I was surrounded by people who had lived life wayy more than myself and has so much knowledge and life experiences
As they were discussing on ways of transferring their long years of knowledge to others in order to help build the younger people and bring them further, I was reminded of the people that had poured so much into my life
I felt truly grateful and blessed to have crossed path with such amazing people
Be it teachers from school, leaders from church or supervisors from work, I'm pretty sure that I got to learn from the best
These people had willingly spent time and energy in showing their care and also wanting to bring out the best in me
There's just so much that I can thank them for

Whoever said that all human beings are often selfish?

Well, I'm sure that all of us have had those people in our lives at some point
I hope they inspire you to want to be a great teacher to those around
To share what you have so that others may benefit from it...no charges needed=)

"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary"
