Coffee is the Answer

Many people speak of the effects of coffee and chances are 8 out of 10 people you meet are coffee lovers, or they drink it at least once a day.

For those who know, I stay away from caffeine as much as I can coz I tend to fidget and get ‘high’ throughout the day if I happen to have a cup of coffee. Yes, my caffeine tolerance is THAT low…you should see me taking alcohol, but that’s another story altogether=)

Anyway, coke or tea used to work just fine to keep me awake when I was burning the midnight oil or when classes are extremely early in the morning. It gave me just the right amount for the refreshing start that I needed.

But recently, as I started working, I find myself being sleepy and restless ALL the time. Before you start making remarks of what a pig I am (and have always been=p), I feel the need to justify my ‘condition’. You see, I have to face my computer for nearly 10 hours looking at documents and doing research with NO social connections (email doesn’t count, who uses that to chat anyway?) to the outside world!

All work and no play makes Gwen a very bored soul…

Well, guess what? One fine day, I finally found a ‘cure’ to my condition and that’s none other than…COFFEE! Yup, I finally gave it a try and did not turn back ever since then. With my limited tolerance level, half a cup in the morning can keep me wide awake and alert the entire day! WHOO!

I’m amazed with the results and proud to say that I am finally a coffee drinker! Hehe…

Am I not good enough?

Alas...I'm officially a working adult
Although it's a very different direction from my initial plans
But still, I have a feeling that this is gonna be better=)

The path ahead will be challenging and tough
Such commitment, hardwork and responsibility that I have to put in
To start from almost nothing, but aiming to go higher
No longer am I able to slack off, as the consequences are heavy
As it is no longer merely losing a grade

There's the fear of failing...unable to see myself doing all that
But like they say, "Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the will to overcome it"
And so I say, "I will be courageous!"

Change?

They say, there are some things in people that can't be changed
Things which are permanently engraved
Things which can be suppressed but not dismissed
Desires...habits...memories...values (or the lack of it)

I wonder if it's true?

I sure hope not...

How true...
But how hard to come by these days

Well, that's Cameron Highlands my friends!
Peaceful, relaxing and stress-free...
Just breathe in the fresh air!
Hm, fancy a cuppa tea?

Past, Present, Future

When we look at someone, we see the way the person carries him or herself
How he or she walks, talks and goes about doing things
There is a certain amount of conclusions that we can come up with from those observations
But many times, there's a lot more going on beyond the surface...

Every person went through life experiencing a unique set of incidents
Bitter or sweet, it is those experiences that made them who they are and what we see is the product of years of molding and shaping

As our world is not made up of rainbows and daisies, somewhere along the line, people go through bad patches and begin picking up baggages
The thing about baggages is that as we continue to move forward, it tends to weigh us down and sooner or later, we (hopefully) learn to leave them behind
But there are also some which no matter how hard we try, they tend to stick around
At the thought of them, we cringe, get frustrated, disappointed, regret and be depressed...

Looking at others, as we get to know them better, we come to have a clearer view of their baggages as well
Love them or hate them, it is a part of who the person is
And as we come face to face with them, we can't help but ask ourselves,
"Can I accept them?"
"Will it harm me?"
"When is he or she going to leave them behind and move forward?"

and most of all,

"Is this all worth it?"

Excellence

Excellence is dedication
To a job that's hard to do,
Going the extra mile
And always trying to follow through.

Excellence is communication,
Sharing everything you know,
And learning how to listen
So your expertise will grow.

Excellence is appreciation
Of the talent that you see,
Acknowledging a job well done
Inspires success and loyalty.

Excellence is aspiration
With a higher goal in mind,
To trust in God
And reach for things
Of a more rewarding kind.

Bukit Tabur

Date: 9th May 2009
Venue: Bukit Tabur
Time: 8.15am - 12.45pm

Went hiking on Saturday with some friends and I was kinda freaked out at first coz apparently, a few people had died in the place recently
Being a clumsy person who can even fall when walking, I was really anxious!

Anyway, everything turned out great and it was one of the best hike that I've been so far!Actually, it kinda felt more like rock climbing/hiking coz for the first 3 hours up, it was just climbing rocks, rocks and more rocks! FUN!=))
And that was also why the experience was so cool coz it's so interesting that it didn't feel tiring
Plus, the view was simply breathtaking~

Yay! We've reached the peak!=D

Obedience, is doing something even when you don't feel like it
Obedience, is doing something you don't enjoy but know that it is for your own good
Obedience, is a struggle between standing by commitments and human desires
Obedience, is when there's respect and trust towards the one in authority
Obedience, is persevering through it all even when you can't see the end
Obedience, is being faithful and staying in line

Obedience, a constant challenge and definitely not an easy task to fulfill
But it is also the way to grow to greater heights with Him

Obedience, is an act of love
