"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others"
~Timo Cruz in Coach Carter~

Sometimes, we just got to believe in ourselves
Have a lil' confidence and BE the person that you are meant to be

Great Teachers

Have you ever thought about the people that have been in your life so far?
Some may still be around, while others have either moved on or just no longer in contact
But whatever it is, a part of who you are today is the result of those relationships

There is your family, your closest relation that have been there since the day you were born
Tirelessly and lovingly bringing you up, often wanting the best for you in all circumstances (well, probably more often than not=p)

There are your friends, those that celebrate your joys together and stand by you when all else seem to fail
The perfect companion to just chill out and talk about anything under the sun

And finally, there are also your teachers, mentors and whoever that you are not directly related to but are just willing to share their abundant knowledge and wisdom
Their purpose is to build you up and share their life experiences, the good and the bad, so that you can learn from them
Their hope is to see you grow as a person and they do not ask for anything in return

When I was at a Facilitation forum yesterday, I was surrounded by people who had lived life wayy more than myself and has so much knowledge and life experiences
As they were discussing on ways of transferring their long years of knowledge to others in order to help build the younger people and bring them further, I was reminded of the people that had poured so much into my life
I felt truly grateful and blessed to have crossed path with such amazing people
Be it teachers from school, leaders from church or supervisors from work, I'm pretty sure that I got to learn from the best
These people had willingly spent time and energy in showing their care and also wanting to bring out the best in me
There's just so much that I can thank them for

Whoever said that all human beings are often selfish?

Well, I'm sure that all of us have had those people in our lives at some point
I hope they inspire you to want to be a great teacher to those around
To share what you have so that others may benefit from it...no charges needed=)

"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary"
~Thomas Carruthers~

Failures? Huh?

Many people are afraid of failures
Often, that's the reason to draw back and not venture into new territories
In fact, it is also one of the most common reasons for people to accept mediocrity

Being afraid of failures means that you're afraid of what others would think of you
If you fail, would you be ridiculed? Ignored? Looked down upon?
Those questions would constantly be playing through in your mind whenever decisions are to be made

Also, what about having to answer to yourself?
What happens to your self-esteem when you fail?
Will you lose confidence in yourself and find it hard to get up once again?
Oh, all the trouble that you would have to go through just to gain 'a valuable experience'

Hence, the safe route is always better than taking the risk
This way, your flaws would not be discovered and you're at a position where your positive side shows
You're at your comfort zone where things are under your control
No worries about things not turning out well as it's just the same routine that you're so used to

Hmm, new and heavier responsibilities?
Just say no, and no one, including yourself would ever find out if you would be able to make it till the end
Just be where things are going smoothly and where you're not in-charge, so that the responsibility is always, not yours

Accept mediocrity and
life.
would.
just.
be.
ordinary.

Oh, dear.

Resolutions for Year 2009

1. Stop complaining; Start living
2. Stop procrastinating; Start working
3. Stop worrying; Start praying
4. Stop wondering; Start moving

5. Take resolutions seriously

Many had asked me about my work and what I do

To some, they had an earful of the not-so-good side of things
To others, I just smiled and gave the usual OK cause I was too tired of repeating myself
Looking back, there really isn't much to say about my work and let's just put it that I had expectations and it has led to much disappointments
I was really stressed cause I had nothing to do
It came to a point of extreme demotivation that I literally felt useless and just plain stupid

In the end, I just gave up and succumbed into the flow of things
I accepted how things were and that was when I began to realize
Perhaps I did not receive the knowledge that I had expected but it doesn't mean that I had to put my time there to waste
Besides my job, everything else around could be a learning experience
The most influential was the people there...their working attitude, commitment and passion for their job was admirable
Also, my perception and outlook towards things in life have somehow changed too
And I got to meet different people and do some really cool stuff

Staying in Sepang and being away from my daily routines and everything that I was familiar with felt weird at first
But as I got used to things, I really had fun there...sort of like a long vacation
The people were great, there were less worries and life was simple
Despite all that I had probably complained and grumbled to people around, I know that I will surely miss my time there
(Note to self: Stop complaining!)

It's been nearly a month that I've started my internship
I'm with an outdoor team building company called Great Adventure Consultant (GAC)

Work can be a little mundane at times but whenever there's an event, it's definitely fun, fun, fun!
There's just so much to learn, so many people to meet and plenty of experiences to gain
Work has also given me the opportunity to do many of the things that I've always wanted to but just never had the chance before

I'm currently based in one of their branches in Sepang GoldCoast
Check out the view from my workplace...

Beautiful isn't it?=)
